I received His Frozen Heart in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by WordSmith Publicity. Candy and Libby have just graduated from high school when Candy gets the news her parents are moving to New Mexico and leaving her the house to rent. At least she won’t be alone while going to school she will have her best friend Libby by her side. Fast forward 21 months later the girls are struggling to pay the bills as well as eat. Candy is working three jobs and going to school full time. At least Libby is a shark when it comes to pool and is able to win money for groceries that night but neither girl knew at the time their lives would change forever.

Candy is attacked at the gas station the only thing saving her was the fact that she was behind bullet proof glass. Her roommate Libby is beaten and may not come out of the coma and a pair of mad men are hot on her trail. When Candy remembers that she saw a guy from high school at the bar she looks him up only to find it wasn’t him and old memories come flooding back. Will Candy find more than just a blast from the past in Dave? What about the guys who are stalking her?

I love Candy from her name to her personality in the novel she may have issues but she knows when she has a good thing. Libby may spend most of the novel in a coma but what we do see of her I liked she worked perfectly as a best friend for Candy. Than we have Dave he’s kind of perfect for Candy granted he has his own issues but we all do and she’s exactly what he needs.

I’m a huge fan of Nancy Straights Centaur series so I had super high expectations for His Frozen Heart and she exceeded my expectation. The story is an intricate mix of romance and suspense to create a captivating novel that I was unable to put down. I took this book with me everywhere so every free moment I found had me reading. The characters are easy to connect with you can’t help falling in love with Candy and Dave they just felt so real. The story is beautifully written it stole my heart and left me with happy tears. I honestly didn’t expect to love His Frozen Heart as much as I did because I can’t imagine the author creating a better book than the Centaur’s that I love but this one is WOW. It kept me on the edge of my seat in an emotional roller coaster but it showed the sweet side of young love. I just loved everything about the book and can see myself reading it again in the future. His Frozen Heart is a must read!!!!

Candy Kane lived at home, Mom, Dad & had 2 older sisters in the mid west. Her best friend Libby seemed to be at their house more often than home with Dad (drunk).
The day they graduated from high school her Mom fixed a special meal for them, with banner on the front the house Congratulations Candy & Libby. Shortly after Candy's Mom asked to speak with her alone upstairs. Her parents were moving to New Mexico in two weeks. Dad had a new job.
They spoke to Libby & asked if she was going to college, no. They offer to lease their house to the girls $500 a month, which was agreed upon.
Things worked okay until Libby spent too much of her paycheck. Candy had two part time jobs one third shift at a gas station. Candy came home hungry, only white rice & soy sauce in the house. Libby came home to a third degree questioning.
Libby told Candy to get dressed they were going to the where they could play pool & earned enough to buy food. Libby checked who was playing & pick 2 she didn't know, Teddy & Tony.
It got to the point the girls owed $200, when Libby said one more game double or nothing. They won, Teddy was really ticked off he lost. Had to use ATM. When Libby put her hand out he threw the money on the floor & spit on it & warned them. A tall man who looked like Dave but said he was Mark told Teddy to pick up the money they played a fair game.
They went grocery store shopping, went home. Candy went to take a nap while Libby made manicotti.
When Candy finally woke up she was late to get to the gas station. Got dressed hurried past the living room, Libby on the sofa. While at work someone tried to murder Candy. She asked the police to do a wellness check on Libby. She had been brutally attached while Candy naped. In ICU, brain damage in an induced coma & on life support.
So much more happens, Candy's life is still in danger, lots of action. And possible love in the air.
Learn all about the frozen heart. The book is well worth it to read

It’s no secret I love Nancy Straight. Her emotive writing is so well balanced with her action scenes that I’m quite in awe of her work. Plus, she is one of those “never let me down” authors, so I try to snatch up all her books when they come out. I’m over halfway finished with all her works and I will most likely gobble them up by the end of the year.

Where to begin? First of all, I generally make it a point to NOT read the blurb before I buy a book IF it’s by an author I like. It adds to the surprise and, I feel, limits my pre-concieved expectations of a book. I know, I’m weird. I like to go in blind though. That being said, this book totally blew me away. I was not expecting detailed action, in-depth suspense or very real danger.

The romance added a nice layer to the story, making it more three-dimensional for me. I loved the flashbacks. They gave me a look in to their past without me being over loaded with backstory.

At first, I found Candy to be a bit too stubborn for my tastes, then I realized she was only 20. Everyone is indestructible at 20. Remember? Still, it bothered me enough I took a half star off. The other half star was taken because the climax was a bit…well, anti-climatic.
